Congress OBC cell demands scrapping of Land Acquisition Bill

Jamshedpur: The district Congress OBC cell took out a torchlight procession from Shaheed Chowk to the Sakchi roundabout this evening against the state government’s decision to impose the land Acquisition Act (amended) and to demand 27 percent reservation for Other Backward Classes (OBC).

Led by the district OBC cell president Surendra Sharma, the asdsembled Congressmen criticized the Narendra Modi government at the centre and the Raghubar Das state government claiming that they had failed on all fronts. They shouted slogans against the BJP. The march culminated at the Sakchi roundabout and a meeting was held there.

The national INTUC secretary Rakesh Sahu, East Vidhan Sabha incharge Parvinder Singh and Surendra Sharma speaking on the occasion were critical of the central and state governments while stating that in Jharkhand, the backward communities were bearing the brunt of the negative attitudes of the two governments towards them.
The speakers mocked the BJP government by averring that the slogan, “Sab ka saath sab ka vikas” was not attributed to 40 percent of the population.

The leaders, in their speech said that in a democracy the government and its officials were supposed to listen to the voice of the people but in Jharkhand, none was ready to listen to the woes of the backward classes. They warned that if the government continued in this vein to suppress the voices and demands of the backward classes, they would intensify their agitation on a broader scale.

The large gathering also included Manju Das, Neha Sharma, Kamlesh Sharma, Sunil Kumar, district vice president Shyam Bihari Prajapati, Prem Nath Vishwakarma,Purabi Duttya, Mukesh Yadav, Raj Kishor Prasad, Subham Ram and others.
