Chaibasa, Sep 2: A delegation of West Singhbhum district Congress committee met the superintending engineer of electricity department Krishna Kumar Singh on Friday and handed him a nine-point petition.

Acting on the directions of Singhbhum MP cum state Congress executive president Geeta Koda, the delegation leaders demanded round-the-clock electricity supply, replacement of burnt and dysfunctional transformers, withdrawal of cases against electricity consumers and abstention from lodging cases against consumers among other demands.

The Congress leaders said the electricity department had failed to provide uninterrupted power supply in urban and rural areas. They said the people were forced to resort to alternative power sources which were costlier and causing loss to the state exchequer.

The delegation members included Jitendra Nath Ojha, Chandrashekhar Das, Trishanu Rai, Sikur Gope, Ganesh Koda and Dr Kranti Prakash.
