Jamshedpur: A delegation of members of East Singhbhum district Congress committee met the senior superintendent of police (SSP) Anoop T Mathew on Thursday to demand measures to improve traffic system in the city.

The delegation members said the people of the city were facing death every moment on the city roads due to reckless drivers and a frail traffic police department.

Among all the problems related to traffic, road jams are worst since they result in loss of human hours, pollution and great inconvenience to people, especially office-goers, students and patients, said Surendra Sharma, who led the delegation.

Sharma said the roads near schools suffered from massive road jam. He said auto-rickshaws were found parked recklessly all over the city. He added that heavy vehicles were plying dangerously on city roads. Cops also need to run intensify the helmet checking drive to prevent road accidents, he said.

Among others present on the occasion included Usha Yadav, Sunita Singh, Kalavati Devi, Ajay Singh, Poonam Mukhi, Manoj Kumar, Raju Sharma, Dhasni Lohar and Amarjeet Kaur
