Congress leaders demand probe into Chhotu Punditís murder


Jamshedpur: A delegation of Jamshedpur Lok Sabha Youth Congress Committee members met the senior superintendent of police (SSP), Anoop T Mathew, on Wednesday and demanded a high level probe into alleged attempts to implicate Congress leader Baldev Singh in Chhotu Pundit murder case of Mango PS. Party leaders alleged that certain people were trying to implicate Baldev Singh on the basis of fabricated charges. They said a fair probe should be carried out to ensure that the killers of Chhotu Pundit are punished and the case proceeding does not get affected.

Led by Rakesh Sahu, the delegation members handed a memorandum to the SSP. They alleged that certain self-proclaimed leaders were harassing Baldev
Singh and his family members. They said CCTV cameras were installed outside the houses of Chhotu Pundit and Baldevi Singh. If inquired properly, the actual facts will become known to one and all without delay, said Sahu.

Police had arrested Baldev Singh, Ved Prakash Singh and others in connection with the incident of firing in the house of Chhotu Pundit on 29th June last. An FIR was lodged on the statement of Rani Pathak, wife of Chhotu Pundit, after the incident. Sahu said police had arrested Baldev Singh on 30th June last.

Among those present during the meeting with the SSP included Dhirendra Gupta, Manoj Pramanik, Akhilesh Singh, Raju Singh, Dheeru Pramanik, Golu Singh, Gopal Verma, Chandan Sao, Randhir Gupta, Pintu Gupta, Rohit Kumar and Mohammd Jamal.
