Jamshedpur: In response to the call from the All India Congress Committee, the Jharkhand State Congress Committee and the East Singhbhum District Congress Committee, a padyatra (foot march) was held on Thursday from Golpahari to Khasmahal under the leadership of Jamshedpur Rural Block President Ashish Thakur. The initiative was part of the “Jai Bapu, Jai Bhim, Jai Samvidhan Abhiyan” aimed at preserving constitutional values and honouring India’s freedom fighters and leaders.
The padyatra commenced from the Congress office and concluded at Khasmahal Chowk, with participants passionately chanting slogans such as “Hindustan will remember Mahatma Gandhi’s sacrifice,” “Jai Samvidhan, Jai Bhim,” “Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Amar Rahe,” “Lal Bahadur Shastri Amar Rahe,” “Subhash Chandra Bose Amar Rahe,” “Jawaharlal Nehru Amar Rahe,” “Birsa Munda Amar Rahe,” and “All the martyrs of India Amar Rahe.”
The march also included fiery slogans criticizing the government, such as “Stop killing the Constitution,” “Stop insulting Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar,” and “Modi government down down.”
Addressing the gathering, District Congress President Anand Bihari Dubey expressed concern over what he described as continuous attacks on the Constitution and the disrespect being shown to India’s freedom fighters and historical leaders. “These incidents are unfolding before the eyes of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, yet there is no action. Every Congressman and citizen must rise to protect the Constitution and the values our great leaders stood for,” he said.
The padyatra saw active participation from Congress leaders and members, including Satish Tirkey, Mahendra Pandey, Dharmendra Sonkar, Rajendra Pandey, Ajay Sharma, Bharat Singh, Kamlesh Kumar, Ankush Banerjee, Munna Mishra and many others. The march highlighted the party’s commitment to defending the Constitution and upholding the legacy of leaders like Mahatma Gandhi, Dr. Bhimrao Ambedkar and Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.
The event concluded with a call for collective action to safeguard democratic values and the Constitution of India.
