Congress defends labour minister Tripathy

Jamshedpur: District Congress president Vijay Khan today rubbished the allegations of bribery against state labour minister KN Tripathy.

Addressing a press conference held at Tilak Pustakalaya, Bistupur, Khan said, The charges against the minister are false and unfounded. He has been accused of taking money for the transfer and posting of a labour department official. But the fact is that the official was found guilty of corrupt practices.

Tripathy faces the charge of taking a bribe of Rs 22 lakh against the minister for the transfer-posting of the training centre in-charge of Labour and Employment Department Dalbir Singh Bhadoriya.

The Congress president further said, Had the minister accepted the bribe, he would have not transferred Bhadoriya since the latter was happy lining his pocket in the city. The charges have no substance.

Khan said the district Congress committee would probe into the charges since the case was linked to the city.
