Ranchi: The MP of Ranchi Subodhkant Sahay today launched Ranchi Bachao
Campaign (save Ranchi campaign) in the state Capital and registered his protest against
the proposed formation of a core capital on Kute.
Accompanied by the local people, Sahay sat on dharna against the core capital proposal and also opposed the foundation laying ceremony for the said proposal.
He said the mere proposal to set up a city within a city in a densely populated place like Ranchi was indicative of the sheer lack of wisdom in the government officials of the state.
He said the situation will turn worse with the setting up of the core capital in Kute as proposed by the government.
Sahay said the government should instead work on setting up a new Capital in Chedi-Manatu
outside Ring Road where thousands of acre of land is available.
He said the said proposal ran the risk of facing a fate similar to the proposal for setting up an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) in the state.
He said the proposal was put forth by the previous government led by Arjun Munda. He said first a consensus should be reached on the issue in the coordination committee.
“The people of the city will face a great deal of difficulty in case this proposal is implemented. There will be hardly any place to breathe freely. A similar proposal
was put forth in Nagri village,” said Sahay.
Sahay said he wanted to prevent the city from becoming a slum. He said he will not leave any stone unturned to ensure that the proposal does not get through under
any circumstances.
Addressing the gathering at the dharna venue, Sahay said.
