Jamshedpur, Nov 24: In a surprising turn of events, police in Mango’s Azadnagar area have cracked a burglary case within 24 hours — only to find that the complainant himself was the mastermind behind the crime.
The accused, identified as Wakar Ahmed, has been arrested and sent to judicial custody.
According to the police, Ahmed had filed a complaint alleging a break-in at his residence on Bagan Shahi Road No. 7 on the night of November 22. Acting promptly on his report, a special team was formed under the direction of the City SP and led by the Patmada DSP to investigate the case using both technical and human intelligence inputs.
During the investigation, several inconsistencies raised suspicion.
Ahmed was taken into custody for questioning, where he eventually confessed to staging the entire incident. Police recovered gold jewellery worth Rs 1.50 lakh from him, including a gold chain, four earrings, and a ring.
Ahmed cited severe financial stress as the reason behind orchestrating the fake burglary.
He reportedly waited until his family members were asleep, then removed the jewellery from the cupboard and deliberately scattered household items to make it appear as though an actual theft had occurred before filing the complaint.
Police officials emphasized that misleading investigations and concealing facts is a serious offence.
Further legal action is underway, and Ahmed has been remanded to judicial custody.
