Jamshedpur, March 13: State transport minister Champai Soren Sunday said all the companies of Jharkhand should spend at least two per cent of their profits on development and public amenities. He said the people of Jharkhand had a right over such amenities.
Soren was speaking during a programme organized in Sreaikela to witness the distribution of 181 e-scooters among Sahiya Didis by Tata Steel Foundation. He demanded that the company should instead provide 1500 e-scooters to the Sahiya Didis who worked in the remote and difficult terrains.
Also present on the occasion, Deputy Commissioner of Seraikela-Kharsawan, Arava Rajkamal, said the new initiative was meant to ensure timely availability of health facilities to pregnant and sick women and other villagers living in remote areas of the district. He said the Tata Steel Foundation had given e-scooters to the ANMs and Sahiya Didis under Corporate Social Responsibility funds. He said more e-scooters would be provided to Sahiya Didis to strengthen health facilities in remote areas.
