Jamshedpur: Shock gripped Sopodera locality under Parsudih police station on Wednesday evening when Rohan Srivastava (30), a professor at Chaibasa College, was found hanging in his home.

According to family members, the incident occurred around 4 pm. Rohan had asked his wife for tea, but when she brought it, the room door was locked from inside. After repeated calls went unanswered, his younger brother Rishi Srivastava was informed. Family members forced open the door and found Rohan hanging from the ceiling fan. He was rushed to Sadar Hospital, where doctors declared him dead.

Police said they found “Money” written on his feet and “Sorry Moto” scrawled on the mirror inside the room. Family members explained that “Moto” was his affectionate nickname for his wife, suggesting personal reasons behind the suicide.

Rohan had married just eight months ago, in December last year and lived with his parents, wife and younger brother. His wife was inconsolable after the incident.

Police have sent the body for post-mortem. “We are investigating all angles. The exact cause will be clear only after the post-mortem report,” officials stated.
