Jamshedpur, Dec 4: The India Meteorological Department’s Ranchi Meteorological Centre issued its Realised Weather Report on Thursday , highlighting a steady dip in both day and night temperatures across several districts of Jharkhand.

The data, recorded at 08:30 AM , reflects a clear shift toward colder conditions as dry northerly winds continue to dominate the region.

According to the report, Ranchi registered a maximum temperature of 25.0°C and a minimum of 10.8°C, both slightly below normal levels.

Jamshedpur remained warmer during the day at 28.2°C, but its night temperature slipped to 11.5°C, showcasing a noticeable chill in early mornings.

Bokaro and Chaibasa also recorded significant nighttime drops, with Bokaro dipping to 9.5°C and Chaibasa to 12.6°C.

Notably, Gumla AWS recorded the lowest minimum temperature at 5.9°C, indicating a pronounced cold spell in the western belt.

Meanwhile, Chaibasa recorded the highest maximum temperature of 29.4°C among key stations.

The Automated Weather Station (AWS) data further showed a minimal 24-hour temperature rise across districts like Bokaro, Latehar and Lohardaga, though nighttime cooling remained prominent.

With no rainfall reported across the state and lowest visibility at 1000 meters in Jamshedpur, dry and fog-free conditions appear to be persisting.

Weather experts suggest that the continued absence of cloud cover, combined with northwesterly winds, is contributing to lower night temperatures.

Residents, particularly in higher-altitude and forest-fringe areas, are likely to experience intensified morning chill over the next few days.

The IMD has advised citizens to prepare for colder mornings and to take necessary precautions, especially vulnerable groups such as children and the elderly, as the state moves deeper into winter conditions.

IMD’s Ranchi Met Centre had already issued cold wave alert in seven Jharkhand districts including Palamu, Garhwa, Chatra, Latehar and Simdega on December 5-6.
