Jamshedpur: Strengthening its leadership in the commercial vehicle segment, Tata Motors officially launched its widest-ever range of 17 new trucks, including the innovative Tata Azura series, at the Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi on Tuesday. In a significant boost for Jharkhand’s industrial footprint, the company confirmed that 10 of these newly launched trucks were manufactured at the Tata Motors Jamshedpur plant, with production set to continue there.
A New Era for the Indian Economy
The new range was unveiled by Girish Wagh, Managing Director of Tata Motors, who stated that these vehicles are designed to usher in a new era for the Indian economy. The lineup spans a versatile range from 7 tonnes to 55 tonnes, catering to diverse logistics and industrial needs.

Electric Vehicle (EV) Lineup and Performance
In a major push toward green mobility, Tata Motors introduced several Electric Trucks within this new range. The EV models are available in 7 tonnes, 9 tonnes, 12 tonnes, 28 tonnes, and 55 tonnes configurations. Key technical highlights include:
- Battery Capacity: Options ranging from 94 kWh to 450 kWh.
- Smart Technology: Equipped with ADAS (Advanced Driver Assistance Systems) and FOTA (Firmware Over The Air) updates.
- Safety Standards: The cabins comply with the stringent European R29 safety standards.
“Safety is not just a feature for us; it is a commitment. Our goal is to ensure every driver returns home safely. Therefore, we have prioritized both high-end safety tech and driver comfort in these new models,” said Girish Wagh.
Manufacturing Powerhouse: The Jamshedpur Link
The Jamshedpur plant continues to be the backbone of Tata Motors’ Medium and Heavy Commercial Vehicle (M&HCV) segment. By manufacturing 10 of the 17 new models, the Jamshedpur facility reinforces its status as a global hub for high-tech automotive engineering. These trucks feature fast-charging capabilities and advanced telematics to help fleet owners maximize productivity.
The launch event was attended by senior leadership, including Rajesh Kaul (VP, Marketing & Sales), Aniruddha Kulkarni (VP, Technology), and Vishal Badshah (VP, Operations).
