CM Soren to take Jharkhand’s ‘Johar ’ to global stage at Davos

Mail News Service

Ranchi, Jan 7: Jharkhand’s traditional salutation “Johar” is set to resonate on the world’s most influential economic platform as Chief Minister Hemant Soren leads the state’s first-ever delegation to the World Economic Forum (WEF) Annual Meeting 2026 in Davos from January 19 to 23.

With this appearance, Soren becomes the first tribal public representative from Jharkhand to participate in the prestigious global gathering.

At Davos, the Chief Minister-led team will project Jharkhand as an emerging investment destination, spotlighting opportunities in critical minerals, mining, electronics manufacturing, electric mobility, renewable energy, textiles, tourism, and forest-based industries.

Aligned with the state’s Vision 2050, the outreach underscores a development strategy that balances rapid economic growth with ecological responsibility.

Jharkhand, one of only six states selected to participate at the India Pavilion, will present itself under the theme *“Growth in Harmony with Nature.”

As the state marks 25 years of its formation, the global engagement at WEF—expected to host nearly 3,000 delegates from 130 countries—signals Jharkhand’s intent to attract global capital, generate employment, and secure a meaningful place in the international economic conversation.
