Ranchi, August: Stressing the importance of water, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that life evolved from water & life cannot be expected without it.
Rivers are integral part of our eco-system & conserving rivers is the most important work for human civilization.
Hence we will have to preserve rivers from getting drying out. He said that the underground water level is decreasing gradually which is a matter of great concern.
In order to preserve flora & fauna, we will have to conserve the rivers. Hence the Central Govt. has been requested to include the Damodar in ‘Namami Gange’ Project.
He wrote a letter to Uma Bharati, Minister of Water Resources, River Development & Ganga Preservation and mentioned that river Damodar was also proposed to be included in Namami Gange Project in the meeting of NGRBA chaired by the Prime Minister. He said that the Damodar is also a subsidiary river of the Ganga.
In order to clean & immortalize the Ganga, we have to clean the subsidiary rivers which ultimately drain into the Ganges. He informed the minister that the Damodar flows through a path of 300 kms.
He said that in order to make the Damodar pollution free, it should officially be included in the Namami Gange Project.
