Ranchi: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Union rural development minister Jairam Ramesh today made it clear that priority will be given to local people in the recruitment of third and fourth grade workers in the mines allotted to Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL).

The CM, addressing a meeting jointly with Ramesh at Project Building on Friday, expressed resentment over the alleged neglect of local people in the recruitment of fourth grade workers in Gua Mines of West Singhbhum. He also resented the fact that a condition of seven years experience has been put forth for the workers for recruitment in the said mines.

Ramesh too, admitted that injustice had been committed by not giving priority to the local people in the mines recruitment. The CM took the SAIL authorities to task for not providing necessary basic amenities to the workers employed in the company. He said the company should make sure that roads and other facilities are provided to the workers by the company authorities.

The state government has given consent to the proposal of SAIL authorities to set up a medical college in Bokaro in principal. Very soon the process of setting up the medical college will be started, sources said. The CM has meanwhile appreciated a proposal of National Thermal Power Corporation authorities to set up a Power Mangement College in Hazaribagh.
