Jamshedpur, Nov. 5: Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das�on Thursday�participated in Vijaya Milan Samaroh at Surya Mandir in Sidhgora. Das, who is the patron of the temple committee, arrived here this afternoon and participated in the function in the evening.
Addressing the gathering he said that Dussehra is symbol of the triumph of truth over evil and the festivals inspire all to walk on the path of righteousness and forbearance.
The Chief Minister exuded hope that the festivities would usher in peace, happiness and prosperity for all. Das lauded the efforts of the people to celebrate the festivals peacefully. He said that the administration should also make proper arrangements for Chhath devotees. He also inspected the temple site, which is a famous venue for Chhath, and asked the functionaries to ensure safety for the devotees.�
He said that the administration must carry on spot-inspections of the 42 Chhath ghats. In the light of devotees traditionally offering prayers to the Sun god dipping into the river the administration must resolve to identify safe places (Chhath ghats) for offering prayers at the two rivers. He noted that administration must barricade the danger zones and also putting up sign boards to caution the revelers visiting the riverbanks.
East Singhbhum district administration has directed corporate houses to take up cleanliness drive�and repair of Chhath ghats their respective areas of operation as part of their corporate social responsibility.
JNAC will be cleaning ghats in Baridih, Birsanagar and Surya Mandir (Sidhgora), ghats in Mango and Jugsalai will be cleaned by respective civic bodies.��They said that people take bath in water tanks and rivers and therefore it is essential that the cleaning work of these water bodies is completed on time.
Meanwhile, officials of Chhath Ghat Committee said that there is an urgent need to properly clean the river banks, and various water bodies on the occasion of the festival of Chhat Puja, which is celebrated with gaiety and fervour by people of the city.
