Ranchi, July 3: Chief Minister Raghubar Das here on Monday ordered demotion of Uma Shankar Prasad, AC, Land Reforms and Naxal, Palamu (former district transport officer, Hazaribag).
Prasad was posted as DTO, Hazaribag, from 25th September 2013 to 4th February 2015 and during this period, the information of corruption was received against him in the district transport office, Hazaribag. On the basis of the inputs, the vigilance officials raided the office and during investigation, it was found that illegal money was collected in district transport officer, Hazaribag through brokers. The bribe money was distributed among DTO and other staff of the office.
Prasad was accused of misusing his post and collecting more money than fixed by the government for issuing DL, smart card, vehicle registration and failing in combating corruption in district transport officer, Hazaribag. These charges were determined under charge sheet form �K�.
The reported accusations against Prasad were reorganized for departmental proceedings. The investigating officers made it clear that the accusations against the officer were right. Criminal case no. 22/11 and 23/11 are lodged with vigilance PS which is under consideration in vigilance court.
