CM inaugurates Flower Show at Gopal Maidan


Jamshedpur : The Chief Minister of Jharkhand Raghubar Das inaugurated the 27 the flower show in the presence of TV Narendran, managing director, Tata Steel.

In his address, the Chief Minister lauded the efforts of Horticultural Society to organise the show. He said that steps need to be taken to preserve flora and fauna of the State.

More than just a flower show, the Horticultural Society, Jamshedpur has designed the show in a way to spread knowledge and creativity among people in Jamshedpur.

The Horticultural Society, Jamshedpur is organising the 27th Annual Flower Show at GopalMaidan for four days. This time apart from the flower show and competitions, the organisers have tried to deliver more technical sessions to promote gardening in smaller spaces.

Emphasis will be laid on innovative landscaping, special flower decoration, use of scrap materials for growing flowers, wooden sculpture and encouraging vertical gardens.

“We have tried our best to make this programme successful. Our flower show is one of the most awaited events for not only the city but residents from other parts of the country.

Not only gardeners but farmers from nearby Potka and Patamda blocks will also participate and gain technical knowledge on increasing their produce,” said RuchiNarendran, the chairperson of Horticultural Society, Jamshedpur.

Organised for the third year at the GopalMaidan, Bistupur, there will be more technical sessions by the experts invited by the Horticultural Society Jamshedpur. Scientists from Kolkata, Nagpur and Bhubaneshwar have been invited for sessions as well as to judge the show.

This year too, the competition is broadly classified as Institutional and Amateur. There will be 10 categories in Amateur and nine in Institutional. The various categories will be –potted seasonal flowers, perennial flowers, potted fruits and vegetables, potted foliage plants, cacti and succulents, bonsai, cut flowers, bouquets, medicinal and aromatic plants.

The flower show has about 85 stalls in the total arena this year. Apart from the competition, a life time achievenemt award will also be given to one of the founder members of the Horticultral Society. The entry tickets for the show will be Rs 5 for children below 12 years and Rs 10 for adults.

This annual event has been working as a platform for people and organizations in the field of horticulture to interact, exchange skills, latest technology and best practices and it has also been helping such people and organisations expand and diversify their activities in the same and related fields.

The flower show with colourful and fragrant array of flowers from all over the country soothes the visual and olfactory senses of everyone who have together to share their passion for nature during this show.
