Jamshedpur: Chief Minister Hemant Soren inaugurated 76 development schemes worth Rs 184 crore online in the city on Wednesday during Vikas Utsav at Birsa Munda Town Hall in Sidhgora.
While admitting that the monsoon was playing hide and seek in the state, Soren said efforts were on to tackle drought like situation. �We have done a lot of good work in a limited time. In next few months, the Model Code of Conduct will come into effect in the state. We have a slew of more development and welfare schemes for the people that will be implemented in the due course of time,� he said.
Indicating his concerns regarding the forthcoming Assembly elections, the CM made several announcements for the benefit of elderly and rural people.
�We will make sure that all elderly persons in the state avail pension benefits. In East Singhbhum, the number of senior citizens availing pension benefits has reached 70,000. Notwithstanding a limited period of governance we have been regularly organizing �Adhikar Shivir� (rights camps) across the state to provide pension benefits to the people. We will be providing same quality of power and water, as available in the cities to people living in rural areas. We have started a scheme under which the panchayats will get piped water supply by 2017,� he said.
Later, the CM distributed land settlement deeds among 340 beneficiaries for 42 acres of land. A total of 22,377 beneficiaries received pension under social security pension scheme.
The CM also distributed Rs 2.11 crore under Mukhya Mantri Laxmi Ladli Yojana among 3527 beneficiaries. He further handed assets worth Rs 1.45 crore for fencing of Jahersthan (tribal worship place) to 16 beneficiaries.
Assets worth Rs 150 crore under Kisan Credit Card, SME loans and retail loans were also distributed amongst 5211 beneficiaries on the occasion.
Several politicians were conspicuous by their absence during the programme. They included MP Pradip Kumar Balmuchu, MP Vidyut Varan Mahato, MLA Raghuvar Das, MLA Menka Sardar and MLA Ramchandra Sahis.
In his address, state transport minister Champai Soren said there was still much difference in the standards of living of the urban and rural people. The difference will be bridged soon, he said. The MLA of Jamshedpur West Banna Gupta said the CM was trying to do a lot for the development of the state. Ghatsila MLA Ramdas Soren said the government had achieved a lot in one year. Zila Parishad chairperson Sonia Samant demanded more funds for the panchayats.
The DC of East Singhbhum Dr Amitabh Kaushal welcomed the guests on the occasion. The programme was conducted by DSE Indu Bhushan Singh. Many administration officials including DIG Mohammad Nehal, SSP AV Homkar, SP city Kartik and DDC Dr Lalmohan Mahato were also present during the programme.
