CM directs for quality higher education to students of Jharkhand

Meeting with VCs of varsities for filling up vacancies 

Ranchi, August 12: Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday directed the officials of the education department to ensure that children of the state get access to quality education.

The chief minister asked officials to assess the mode of education being used in different states to ensure quality higher education to the students of Jharkhand.

Chairing a review meeting over the functioning of the higher and technical education department, Soren said, there is a need to make better plans in the area of higher education or else the children will not be able to get quality education.

The chief minister directed the officials to hold a meeting with the vice-chancellors of the different universities and remove the obstacles in recruitment process of vacant posts so that the students do not face any problem in their studies.

He asked the officials to chalk out a proper plan to improve higher education, adding that without the same it will be difficult to ensure quality education to students.

There is a deficit of teachers in colleges and universities for imparting higher education. On which Chief Minister Soren directed them to hold a meeting with the vice-chancellors to know where the problem is and how it can be sorted out.

He instructed to improve the condition of libraries in different colleges and asked them to ensure online and offline libraries and the availability of books in it according to the demand of students.

The chief minister asked the officials to make sure that the University management has a look at the different means of education being provided in different areas so that the students can be provided better education here.

 During the review meeting he also collected information regarding the work being done in the state over setting up educational institutions on public private partnership  mode.

Hemant Soren asked the officials to provide details regarding the facilities being provided to the private universities in the state and it should be made sure that more students from Jharkhand should be provided education in these institutions.

Regarding institutions running on public-private partnership mode, CM Soren asked officials to ensure that local students should get the maximum benefit from it.

The Chief Minister asked the officials to improve the condition of the Bokaro Women’s College. Mr Soren instructed the officials to hold dialogue with the officials of the SAIL and shift the Women’s College to some other building. . He also asked them to use the building of the engineering college to run the degree college till it is used for technical education.

The Chief Minister also collected information regarding the status of newly constructed and under construction colleges, polytechnic institutions, women colleges etc.

The chief minister also viewed the presentation of the Jharkhand Education Grid to include quality in education.

Those present during the review meeting included additional chief secretary K.K.Khandelwal, principal secretary to CM Rajeev Arun Ekka, secretary to CM, Vinay Kumar Choubey besides director (higher education) A Muthukumar, director (technical education) Arun Kumar besides others.
