CM calls for strengthened Mahila Samitis for State�s development

Ranchi, Dec 13: Summoning women of Jharkhand for their development, Chief Minister Raghubar Das said that women should come forward for the development of the state.

He said that the use of local liquor (haria) can be stopped only when rural women will be skilled and Mahila Samiti empowered. Das also directed the Mahila Samitis to prepare a list of poor families of the village by January 15 so that they can be given two cows each for their livelihood.

Talking to the residents of Barkumbha village during a surprise visit on Sunday, the Chief Minister said that he will call the leaders of the Mahila Samiti and talk to them.

Laying stress at making the women self-reliant by training and fostering skills, the CM said that the women prepare and sell local liquor because of poverty. If they are employed, they will not do these things and the villages will be addiction free.

He said that the government will give Rs. 1 lakh to the villages that will be made addiction free. The women present on this occasion assured the CM that they will help in making the state liquor free.

On the complaint of the girls about non-availability of buses or other means of transport for going to school/ college, the CM assured them that the government will run buses within three to four months.

The CM was also reported that the tribal land is being illegally sold by some unwanted middlemen and it should be stopped. The CM said that it is done with the help of SAR court and that�s why the govt. has decided to abolish this court.

The CM said that the villagers should decide where a check dam or a pond will be made and the government will do accordingly. He said that deep boring will done and poor families will be distributed with ration cards through conducting camps at the block.

In case of the block office away from the villages, the camps will be conducted near the villages. He said that the scarcity of teachers and doctors will be sorted out soon. Apart from listening to the problems of the people, the CM told them about various schemes run by the government for their welfare.
