Las Vegas (USA): Pushing ahead on his agenda to make Jharkhand the global destination of choice for investors, Jharkhand Chief Minister Raghubar Das and his team of top bureaucrats and advisors reached Las Vegas to attend MIN Expo 2016 (Mining Expo), where the state has a dedicated pavilion. The tour aims at exploring foreign investor potential for Jharkhand.
At the Expo, CM and his delegation met Scott Phillips, CEO of GE Mining, Chicago, Sean Mc Lanahan, CEO of Hollidaysburg Pennsylvania, USA and Rahul Jain, Business Head of Surface Mining and Technology of Caterpillar Private Limited (CPL).
During the interaction session, state delegation members had a detailed discussion with mining tycoons. Visiting the Jharkhand Pavilion, CPL proposed setting up of a mining equipment manufacturing unit in Adityapur, Jharkhand.
Speaking on the occasion, the CM said, �Jharkhand is set to usher in an era of industrial growth and is geared up to showcase its enormous potential to the national and international investment communities in order to attract suitable investments.
The MIN Expo in this scenario is a platform to lure investors who will become long term partners in the burgeoning development of one of India�s youngest states, which has over 40 per cent of India�s mineral reserves. The state accounts for 27 per cent of national coal reserves and 26 per cent iron ore besides others,� he further added.
While detailing the investors, Raj Bala Verma, Jharkhand Chief Secretary, said, �So far the government has held fruitful road shows in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Kolkata and Mumbai. During the road shows, Jharkhand Government signed some crucial agreements with global corporations like CISCO and Oracle to impart skilling to prepare for the technology leveraged future , Two MoUs were also signed with global technology major Hewlett Packard for e-healthcare and tele-education,� she added.
Verma further said, �During this US sojourn, the state government is looking to seal collaborations with leading organizations and industrial institutions of commerce and trade bodies with the objective of boosting American familiarization with and investment in Jharkhand.
The expo would be followed by a visit to San Francisco where the delegation is scheduled to visit Hewlett Packard Enterprise with which memoranda of understanding (MoUs) were recently signed in the areas of tele-education (virtual classrooms) and IT enabled primary healthcare.
�All this orchestrated lobbying is aimed at culminating in a sizeable attendance at Jharkhand�s maiden global business meet �The Momentum Jharkhand Global Investors Summit�, scheduled to take place in state capital Ranchi, on 16-17 February 2017,� sources in the CM�s team said.
The CM and the Chief Secretary along with the Additional Chief Secretary cum Development Commissioner Amit Khare, Additional Chief Secretary, Energy R.K. Srivastava, Principal Secretary to CM Sanjay Kumar and Secretary Mines, geology and Industries Sunil Kumar Barnwal and other state delegates are in the USA on a 5 days intense tour to woo investors.
