Jamshedpur: Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren on Thursday said his government will make sure to ensure that journalists reap benefits of the Majithia Wage Board for journalists. He promised that the Government will pay heed to the demands of the scribes and work to ensure that they get all the benefits.
Inter-acting with the media persons of Kolhan division comprising East and West Singhbhum and Seraikela-Kharswan district soon after he launched accidental group insurance for the scribes of the state, Soren said the Labour department has already sent letters to all media houses seeking report whether the Wage Board was implemented or not.
“I will personally review the progress and take step accordingly,” Soren said when journalists drew his attention that the Wage Board was yet to be implemented by the managements of various newspapers in the state.
“We are want to ensure that the journalists get all the benefits and I will personally review the progress and take steps in this regard,” Soren.
Earlier, launching the group insurance to cover the accidental benefits for journalists, Soren said such scheme for journalist was launched for the first time in the State and more such steps will be taken to ensure their wellbeing.
On the sidelines of the interactive session, he also said the mineral-rich Jharkhand has plenty of potential for growth but lagged behind because of the prevailing mindset of the people.
He said that it is a matter of great concern that the rural areas of the State are still deprived of pour drinking water and villagers need to travel miles to fetch water. Water and sanitation are basic needs that should be addressed on an urgent basis he added.
�Our government has set a target to ensure availability of drinking water and roads in all the villages of Jharkhand. We are working over it. Efforts are also be being made to bring public and private sectors to help utilise water from mineral areas as water management has become a major challenge before the government following severe back-to-back drought years,” he said.
He added that it�s high time to speed up the implementation of the schemes so that the people can reap the benefits. �I think it is essential to strengthen the monitoring network, at the state level, to supervise timely completion of the important projects,� noted Soren.
He also highlighted his achievements during the short stint of one year in power. Soren said : � We have started measures to register improvement across sectors including health, education, and infrastructure, he said, while expressing satisfaction over his government’s performance during last one year in power.
