Ranchi: In a significant announcement, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren declared the complete waiver of application fees for competitive exams for tribal students. The announcement was made during a meeting with tribal-indigenous students who had gathered at the CM House to express gratitude for the withdrawal of cases against ST/AAC students involved in the Bharat Bandh on April 2, 2018.
CM Hemant Soren addressed the students, emphasizing the government’s commitment to granting rights and privileges to tribals, Dalits, backward classes, and minorities. He acknowledged the resilience of Jharkhandi people and assured that the government would stand with sensitivity towards the tribals and indigenous communities.
Expressing concern about the historical struggles and sacrifices for a separate Jharkhand state, CM Soren highlighted the continuous efforts to ensure that the rights of tribals and indigenous people are recognized and respected. He stressed that the government, whether in the public or private sector, is actively working to generate significant employment opportunities for the youth.
CM Soren also assured the students of improved hostel facilities, ongoing renovations, and provisions for food grains, cooks, and security guards. Recognizing the plight of many tribals, Dalits, and backward class individuals in jails, he announced government support to ensure their access to resources for bail in non-serious cases.
The Chief Minister urged the students to have faith in the government’s commitment to transparency in appointments and assured that no irregularities would be tolerated. The decision to waive application fees for competitive exams reflects the government’s dedication to empowering tribal students and promoting inclusivity in education and employment.
