Ranchi: The BJP has responded strongly to Chief Minister Hemant Soren’s recent announcement of waiving competitive examination fees, with party spokesperson Pratul Shahdev calling the Chief Minister “brave.” Shahdev raised questions about the timing of the announcement, noting that it comes just a few months before the end of the Chief Minister’s tenure.
The BJP spokesperson questioned why the Chief Minister waited four years to announce the fee waiver and why the promised unemployment allowance, as per JMM’s manifesto, was not provided to students during this period. The manifesto had pledged a monthly unemployment allowance of Rs 5000 for unemployed graduates and Rs 7000 for postgraduates until they secure employment.
Shahdev further demanded an explanation from the Chief Minister regarding the non-implementation of the Khatian of 1932, intended for the benefit of tribal people. He accused the Chief Minister of creating confusion instead of facilitating its implementation. Shahdev criticized the government’s job creation record, pointing out that despite the Chief Minister’s promise, only a fraction of the expected government jobs had materialized.
The BJP spokesperson also expressed skepticism about the sudden attention given to backward classes, highlighting the absence of a chairman for the Backward Classes Commission responsible for conducting a triple test for reservation.
Shahdev concluded by asserting that the Chief Minister tends to make announcements without effective implementation, and the people of the state, including tribals, indigenous people, and youth, would express their opinions through the ballot in the upcoming elections.
