Cloth Bank opened in Kadma, to provide clothes for the needy

Jamshedpur, May 4: First Lions Cloth Bank in Jamshedpur was inaugurated by the Centennial Lion District Governor Rajnish Kumar at House No 5, Uliyan Main Road, Kadma on 1st May.

One of the dream project of Amit Kumar, Deputy Commissioner of East Singhbhum who could not make it to the inauguration function was all praise for the efforts and initiatives taken by Lions club. Speaking over phone to Rajnish Kumar, he regretted for not being part of event and assured all support if such initiatives is continued by Lions Fraternity elsewhere in the District.

Day one attracted 12 lion members of five different Lions clubs to donate clothes and within an hour when the news spread of the opening of Lions Cloth Bank people living in the surroundings came rushing with children and infants. No one was left disheartened and everyone was given the choice to select the dress of their liking and take home willingly.

The excitement of the children and ladies was very satisfying. Encouraged with the response Lions are now planning to open one such Cloth Bank each in all the four corners of Jamshedpur preferably one each at Golmuri, Mango, Jugsalai.
Kadma Centre came up when one new member of Lions Club of Jamshedpur Steel City Sarita Roy dedicated one room in her house for this purpose and also volunteered to monitor it with other members of Lions Club of Steel City.

Very soon the Cloth Bank will have shoes and even purse bank for free distribution. Lions are running such Cloth Bank in Garhwa, Chaibasa, Chas. Very soon Ranchi will have one such bank.

The inauguration ceremony was attended by Zone Chairperson Pranati Das, senior Pawan Marwah, Seema Bajpai, Shubham Bajpai, President of Lions Clubs Steel City Vandana Mishra who initiated this project, Secretary Meena Bhagat, Past President Indu Gandi, Incoming President Reepa Dutta, Seema Sahay, Jyoti and others.

Initially the Cloth Bank will operate weekly on every Monday from 3 to 6 in the evening. Later seeing the need it will be extended further.
