Closed Hindustan Copper Limited Surda Mines will be opened on the initiative of CM

Ranchi, Aug 16: Ghatshila MLA  and JMM leader Ramdas Soren on Monday met Jharkhand mines and geology and industries secretary Pooja Singhal on the suggestion of Chief Minister Hemant Soren on resumption of  mining activities in the closed mines of Hindustan Copper Limited at Surda in Ghatshila and auctioning the Panna Mines to start the mining process.

It is to be known that the major PSU of Jamshedpur and Ghatshila, Hindustan Copper Limited is closed since 31 March 2020. The state government will renew the mining lease of HCL and send it to the Government of India within 15 days. The  mining activity will start soon after getting the Environmental Clearance-II approval from the Union government. The starting of mining activity will provide employment to thousands of people.

The mines secretary also informed that the auction process of emerald mines will be completed in two months.

On the instructions of the Chief Minister, the process of auction of emerald mines located at Ghatshila under G-4 has been approved. Taking initiative, the state government will complete the process of auction of emerald mines located at Ghatshila within the next two months. This will allow mining to start as soon as possible. Along with this, illegal mining will also be curbed and the state government will get revenue and thousands of unemployed will get employment. It is to be known that there is a stock of 11 thousand kilograms of emerald here.
