Jamshedpur: Mumbai (LTT)- Shalimar Kurla Express ( Dn) had a close shave on Thursday morning due to breakdown of a tractor at an unmanned level crossing at Kokpara located close to Chakulia in East Singhbhum district. Moreover, movement of trains between Tatanagar and Kharagpur section of South Eastern Railway ( SER) was affected for over two hours.
The incident took place at around 8.30 am. Soon after the incident, a local railway team rushed to the spot and the tractor was removed from the railway track.
Railway sources said the Mumbai (LTT)- Shalimar Kurla Express ( Dn) had a close shave as the incident occurred minutes before it was about to pass through that level crossing. The driver applied brakes and the train stopped before it could reach the level crossing. A major mishap was averted.
Tatanagar station director H. K Balmuchu confirmed the incident and said that the place in Kokpara where the incident took place falls under Kharagpur railway division. He said normal train services resumed at around 10.30 am.
Due to the incident, the Puri-New Delhi Kalinga Utkal Express was stuck up at Kokpara railway station for about an hour from 8.40 am to 9.45 am. The train which was already running late by three hours was further delayed by one hour.
