Jamshedpur: A meeting of the District Level Committee for Eklavya Model Residential Schools (EMRS) was convened under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner Karn Satyarthi at the Collectorate office on Wednesday. The meeting reviewed the preparedness of the EMRS institutions located in Baharagora, Potka, Dumaria, and Dhalbhumgarh blocks, and issued clear instructions to commence classes within a month.
During the deliberations, various operational aspects were discussed in detail, including student enrollment, recruitment of teaching and non-teaching staff, construction of essential infrastructure, and arrangements for security and basic facilities.
The Deputy Commissioner directed officials to immediately initiate the appointment process in accordance with prescribed guidelines. It was decided that advertisements for vacant teaching posts would be published without delay to address the shortage of academic staff by the end of the current month. For non-academic positions, the required manpower will be engaged through outsourcing agencies.
Emphasizing the goal of achieving full capacity, the Deputy Commissioner instructed that 100% enrollment should be ensured in all the Eklavya Model Residential Schools. At present, admissions are being taken for classes 6 to 8.
On the infrastructure front, the Deputy Commissioner called for close coordination with the concerned executing agencies to expedite the installation of blackboards, transformers, borewells, and other facilities as per the approved Detailed Project Reports (DPR). The District Welfare Officer was instructed to ensure timely arrangements of electricity connections, benches, desks, mess facilities, stationery, and school uniforms.
To address security concerns, directions were issued to prepare and submit estimates for fencing the school premises at the earliest to safeguard students and property.
The meeting was attended by District Welfare Officer Shankaracharya Samad, District Public Relations Officer Panchanan Oraon, District Social Welfare Officer Sandhya Rani, District Education Officer Manoj Kumar, Dr. A. Mitra from the Health Department, and other committee members.
