Civic Polls 2026: Final nomination day sees robust participation in Jamshedpur

Jamshedpur, Feb 4: The nomination process for the Municipal Elections 2026 concluded on Wednesday with strong participation across urban local bodies in East Singhbhum district, indicating an intense electoral contest ahead.

For the Mango Municipal Corporation Mayor’s post, a total of 16 candidates have filed nomination papers.

Of these, 11 aspirants submitted their nominations on the final day before the Returning Officer, underlining heightened political activity in the mayoral race.

In the Jugsalai Municipal Council, 10 candidates are in the fray for the Chairperson’s post, with four nominations being filed on the last day.

Meanwhile, the Chakulia Nagar Panchayat recorded four nominations for the Chairperson’s post, including one candidate who filed papers on the concluding day.

As per the election schedule, scrutiny of nominations will take place on February 5, followed by withdrawal of nominations on February 6, 2026.

The final list of contesting candidates will be released after the completion of the withdrawal process.

With nominations complete, the stage is now set for an engaging campaign as candidates gear up to reach out to voters across the district.
