City women celebrate Women’s Day, slam social evils

Jamshedpur: International Human Rights Association (IHRA) organized International Women’s Day at its Sakchi office on Monday. Several women from different professions were felicitated on behalf of the outfit. They included International boxer Aruna Mishra, Zila Parishad chairperson Bulurani Singh, AIWC member Manju Singh and journalist Anni Amrita.

Presiding over the event, IHRA national general secretary Usha Singh said women were not safe anywhere notwithstanding the tall claims made at various platforms on the occasion of Women’s Day. She said the ground reality was totally different from what was claimed about women’s empowerment. She stressed the need to take concrete measures to stop crimes and other atrocities against women.

Aruna Mishra and other speakers too, stressed the need to make women safer and independent. They said there was need to ensure that the rights of women are not violated anywhere. They spoke against female foeticide, dowry system and witch-hunt besides slamming other social evils.

Among others present during the programme included Malti Tiwary, Prabha Tiwary, Daljeet, Vineeta Ranjana Sharma, Sushmita Sarkar, Rajshree, Puja Singh, Sangeeta, Neha, Fatima, Purbi Dutta and Prabhjeet Kaur.
