City daughter killed in Khagaria over dowry

Jamshedpur, July 14: Bhuiyadih resident Soni Kumari alias Rubi was lynched to death by her in-laws over dowry demand.

The incident took place on July 4, 2015 and an FIR was registered at the Khagriya Police Station on July 5 but till now no step has been taken.

Soni, a resident of Qtr. No. 268A, Kalindi Club in Bhuiyadih was married on November 28, 2013 to Shriram Malakar son of Balmukund Malakar of Bhagat Tola, Khagriya. At the time of marriage the her in-laws demanded Rs 5 lakh cash, 100 gram gold, bed, sofa, dressing table, refrigerator, washing machine and many other utilities.

As stated by her mother, soon after the marriage the in-laws started putting pressure on Soni for a LED TV and a motorcycle. The family started torturing her over greedy demands.

The husband Shriram Malakar, mother-in-law Mina Devi, father-in-law Blamukund Malakar, sister-in-laws Mamta Devi, Gagni Devi & Rinku Devi often harassed her and even they went to the extent of physical violence.

The torture was of such extreme level that she had earlier threatened to be killed. Finally, at 6:30 in the evening on July 5, 2015, mother of Soni received the news of her daughter�s death.
