Jamshedpur: State tourism development department has decided to close down operation of city buses owing to a dispute with the city bus employees� union.
Protesting the decision taken by the Corporation, members of Jharkhand City Bus Employees Association today sat on an indefinite dharna before the office of the state tourism body at Sidhgora.
Union members said no decision had yet been taken regarding the resumption of the bus service. They said they were clueless about any possibility of such a decision being taken in the near future.
Leading the agitators, Ajit Singh said the Provident Fund of the bus employees had not been paid to them yet. He said the agitation would continue till the dues are paid.
Meanwhile, SK Jha, manager of Jamshedpur City Bus has registered a case against Ganga Thakur, president of City Bus Employees Association, for allegedly abusing him in an inebriated condition.
Police arrested the accused and began an investigation in the case.
