Christmas revelry at Jamshedpur picnic spots under police vigilance

Jamshedpur:  The picnic spots in and around the Steel City bustled with Christmas revelers and visitors, with heightened security ensuring a safe and enjoyable atmosphere for all. Popular destinations such as Jubilee Park, Dimna Lake, Hudco Dam in Govindpur, and Narwa Dam near Jadugora witnessed a significant influx of visitors, but also operated under the watchful eyes of police personnel, plainclothes cops, and magistrates.

This year, the local administration took a proactive approach by deploying magistrates along with police personnel at key public places. Officials explained that these measures were implemented to handle potential disturbances efficiently.

“Youngsters with a criminal bent of mind sometimes create trouble in public places. Such elements often resort to violence if unchecked. With magistrates present, the police can manage situations more effectively by acting on their instructions,” an official said.

Jubilee Park, one of the city’s prime attractions, drew an estimated 3,000 visitors, predominantly women and children. Dimna Lake saw around 1,500 picnickers, with groups arriving from Jamshedpur and nearby areas. Hudco Dam and Narwa Dam also attracted large crowds of revelers throughout the day.

At Jubilee Park, the administration’s efforts to ensure public safety were evident. “Police constables, including lady cops, and plainclothes policemen were strategically deployed across the park and the adjoining Tata Steel Zoological Garden,” an official stated. These personnel patrolled regularly to prevent incidents such as molestation or chain-snatching.

To cater to the surge of visitors, the administration bolstered arrangements at these popular spots. In addition to visible police presence, plainclothes officers mingled with the crowd to monitor activities discreetly.

“Our priority is to ensure that everyone can enjoy their celebrations without fear. The presence of magistrates further empowers our forces to act decisively if any untoward incidents occur,” the official added.

The combined efforts of the administration and law enforcement ensured a peaceful and joyous celebration at the city’s picnic spots. The enhanced security measures, coupled with the deployment of magistrates, set a benchmark for crowd management and public safety, allowing families and friends to revel in the festive spirit without concerns.
