Chhau Nritya presentation at Sonari Basti on May 20

Jamshedpur, May 18: Guru Chandi Charan Mahto of Vivekananda Vishal Chhau Sagar of Nimdih in Saraikela-Kharsawan district and Guru Hem Singh Mahto of Binapani Chhau Nritya Club at Bagmundi in Purulia (West Bengal) will present Chhau Nritya with their respective teams at the Development Committee Ground (behind Carmel Junior College) on Saturday, May 20 from 10 pm.

 A meeting of the Development Committee chaired by Dhananjay Mahto was held in the office at Old Sonari Basti in which it was decided to organize Chhau dance performances on Saturday, May 20 at the Committee’s ground.

MP Bidyut Baran Mahto would be present at the programme as chief guest while Ichagarh MLA Savita Mahto would grace the occasion as guest-of-honour. Former MP Shailendra Mahto will also attend the Chhau performances. Other dignitaries who will be present on the occasion would be 20-point programme Vice President Mohan Karmakar, JMM leader and social worker Astik Mahto, Phanindra Mahto, Bablu Mahto, Sukhdev Mahato, JMM District Secretary Laltu Mahato, Ajay Rajak and Ashok Singh.

  An organizing committee for the event was formed during the meeting. The committee included President Dhananjay Mahato, Vice President-Gopal Mahato, General Secretary Akhileshwar Mahato, Secretaries Ramu Mahato and Kamal Mahato and Treasurer-Kartik Prasad Mahato.
