Chandi Puja held at Chandil

Chandil: Devotees throng at Bamni Village at Nimdih on the occasion of Ma Khalai Chandi Puja.

The visitors offered Puja and take part in religious activities on the occasion of Akhan Yatra, which is considered a auspicious day on the second day of Makar Sankranti.

It is an age-old tradition that the devotees take a holy dip in the nearby pond, partake in Puja, and offer pigeons and he-goat to the deity.

Meghnad Goswami, Sobraj Goswami, Rajesh Gosmani and other priests said on the occasion that their forefathers had started the puja in the distant past and since then the ritual is being held with great religious fervor.

Devotees from Jharkhand, Bengal and Orissa visit the temple on the occasion and take religious vows.

The local villagers make all necessary arrangements for the Puja and the rituals on their own.

Tusu has been an added attraction of the religious event.
