Chandankiyari Elections: Jharkhand Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri finishes third

JMM’s Umakant Rajak clinches Chandankiyari

Bokaro: Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) candidate Umakant Rajak has emerged victorious from the Chandankiyari assembly seat in Bokaro district. Rajak secured 90,027 votes, defeating BJP’s Leader of Opposition Amar Kumar Bauri, who managed only 56,091 votes and finished third. Arjun Rajwar of JLKM claimed the second position with 56,294 votes.

Umakant Rajak won by a margin of 33,733 votes.

This marks a significant loss for Amar Kumar Bauri, who had won the Chandankiyari seat in the 2019 assembly elections. This time, the JMM fielded Umakant Rajak, a former winner from the seat on an AJSU ticket. The Chandankiyari seat is reserved for Scheduled Castes (SC).

In the 2019 assembly polls, Bauri defeated Rajak, who contested the seat on an AJSU Party ticket.

Voting in Chandankiyari constituency, which falls under the Dhanbad Lok Sabha seat, was held on November 20. The constituency has 2,80,390 registered voters, including 1,43,171 male and 1,37,214 female voters. All polling stations in the constituency are located in rural areas.
