Champai Soren demands inclusion of Ho language in 8th Schedule

Jamshedpur: The tribal Ho community celebrated the 106th birth anniversary of Ot Guru Lako Bodra on Friday, in Jaskandi village, Parsudih.

A life-size statue of Guru Lako Bodra was unveiled on this occasion.

Former Chief Minister Champai Soren, unveiled the statue. Champai Soren said, “Today is a very special day for tribal people. The tribal Ho language should be included in the Eighth Schedule of India. All members of the community need to unite for this.”

“When I was the Chief Minister of Jharkhand, I initiated the process of incorporating tribal languages and language teachers in Jharkhand. We had decided that whether it’s the tribal language Ol Chiki or the Warangkshiti script, all tribal languages should be taught in schools from the primary level. We had also decided to recruit teachers. However, time was short, and the decision remained unsettled. Before the process could be implemented, I had to step down as Chief Minister,” said Soren.

“However, teachers of tribal languages in Jharkhand should be recruited and appointed in schools and colleges,” said Soren.

Champai Soren further stated that on this anniversary, he would appeal to all tribal communities to learn the Warangkshiti script.
