Chakradharpur DRM urges railway workers to ensure accurate data entry for train operations

Jamshedpur, April 8: Despite achieving 80 percent punctuality in train operations, the Divisional Railway Manager (DRM) of Chakradharpur, Arun J Rathore, has emphasized the importance of avoiding incorrect data entry by railway workers. In a letter issued on April 6, the DRM highlighted that trains should not exceed a delay of more than 60 minutes under any circumstances. He urged railway personnel to be vigilant in preventing cases of data mismatch, improper diversion of passenger trains, and inaccurate time logging.

Ensuring punctuality in train operations is crucial for passenger convenience and enhancing loading capacity, according to the DRM. Although the loading capacity in the fiscal year 2023-24 has been commendable, punctuality has been lacking. The DRM aims to improve loading capacity in the upcoming fiscal year 2024-25. Additionally, efforts should be made to address issues leading to crew members working for more than 14 hours.

In a bid to enhance efficiency, the speed of trains on the Tata-Badampahar route is set to increase to 110 km per hour, as per the DRM’s letter. Furthermore, plans are underway to increase train speeds to 130 km per hour on the joint line between Jharsuguda and Rourkela. The potential operationalization of the fourth line between Rourkela and Bandamunda is expected to further boost train speeds.

To streamline operations, DRM emphasized the need for electrification of all loading sidings and goods sheds. Additionally, efforts are being made to optimize train routing, such as interchange of trains between divisions and assignment of trains based on line doubling projects in various routes.
