Chaibasa, July 28: The CPI Maoists have put up banners and posters across several rural areas of the West Singhbhum district to mark the commencement of their martyrdom week. Numerous posters were displayed just 50 to 100 meters from the Chotanagra police station and the CRPF camp in Chhotanagra Village within the Saranda Forest. Issued by the Southern Zonal Committee of CPI Maoist, the posters called for the observance of Martyrdom Week from July 28 to August 3 with determination.
The Naxalite posters and banners were noticed on late Saturday night. By Sunday morning, the police had arrived at the scene, removed the posters, and initiated an investigation. The posters, which were found in multiple locations including from Panchpahia village school to Domlai village and Jhariakela, had created an atmosphere of fear in the surrounding villages. Additionally, booklets left by the Naxalites contained slogans written in tribal languages.

The posters urged the villagers to observe Martyrdom Week with revolutionary zeal, mentioning strategies like Maoist raids, adhering to war rules, minimizing unnecessary losses, and increasing the victory ratio in guerrilla warfare.
Recently, there was an encounter between the police and Naxalites in the Dolaigada forest of the Chotanagra police station area. The Naxalites, taking advantage of the dense forest, fled the scene as the police gained the upper hand. An SLR rifle and other weapons were recovered by the police from the encounter site. This area is heavily influenced by the notorious Naxalite leader Lalchand Hembram, also known as Anmol or Samar Da, who has a bounty of ₹25 lakh on his head.
It is well-known that the CPI Maoists celebrate Martyrdom Week annually from July 28 to August 3. During this period, they honor their deceased comrades by building memorials and gathering villagers in their areas of influence for commemorations.
