Death toll rises to 148 in US-Israeli attack on Iranian school

Tehran (IANS): The humanitarian crisis in southern Iran deepened Sunday as local officials confirmed the death toll from a joint U.S.-Israeli strike on a girls’ elementary school has risen to 148.

The strike in Hormozgan Province comes amid a massive aerial campaign—codenamed “Operation Epic Fury”—that has already claimed the lives of Iran’s top political and military leadership.

Local prosecutor Ebrahim Taheri, cited by the Tasnim News Agency, provided the following figures regarding the strike on the girls’ school:

  • Confirmed Dead: 148 people.
  • Wounded: 95 individuals currently receiving treatment.
  • Victims: The majority are pupils, though teachers, school staff, and parents are among the deceased.

Note: This strike occurred during a wider wave of attacks targeting major hubs including Tehran, Tabriz, Qom, Isfahan, and Karaj.

U.S. Secretary of War Pete Hegseth described the ongoing campaign as the “most lethal and precise aerial operation in history.”
