Centre waives Rs. 1200 crore loan dues from Jharkhand

Ranchi, Nov. 21: Chief Minister Raghubar Das met the Union minister for energy Piyush Goyal in New Delhi and succeeded in obtaining Rs. 1200 crore, which is 60% of the due amount, waived from the Center.

Chief Minister Das said that the state government will take loans from the Reserve Bank of India to pay the Coal India and DVC dues and JBVL loan in order to strengthen UDAY (Ujjwal Discom Assurance Yojana), which has been formed to strengthen the financial abilities of electricity distribution companies. Jharkhand is the first state to be included in Uday Yojana.

The CM said that a revised tender will be published soon to start the Tilaiya Ultra Mega Power Plant. He said that a committee will be constituted for Jharia Rehabilitation Plan. The government will take a decision on the committee�s recommendation after its approval from the Union Ministry for Coal. At the same time, the Chief Minister announced that his government will consider providing employment to the displaced.

The CM said that the government will soon select a place to shift R.S.P. College. According to him, the Government of India has assured to help in building and equipping the college. He said that the Ministry for Coal will help in developing the Sports University, which will be run by State Government in collaboration with Central Coal Fields Limited (CCFL), through its public enterprises. This will help in detecting the sports caliber of tribal children and develop their sports talent.
