CBI nabs NEET paper leak kingpin Rocky

Ranchi, July 11: CBI has got a big success on Thursday in the NEET paper leak case with the arrest of Rocky alias Rakesh Ranjan from Jharkhand on Wednesday.

According to sources, Rocky is the kingping of this gang. CBI has produced Rocky in the court and taken him on 10 days remand.

Incidentally, CBI had arrested two more accused Sunny and Ranjit on Tuesday in the NEET paper leak case. One of the arrested accused is an examinee while the other was the father of another examinee. CBI had arrested Ranjit from Gaya and Sunny from Nalanda.

On the basis of the indications given by these people during CBI interrogation, CBI has taken action and arrested Rakesh Ranjan.

CBI produced Rocky, a resident of Nalanda, before Special Judge Harshvardhan Singh today. He was taken into judicial custody in the court. After that, CBI filed an application and sent him for 10 days of custodial interrogation for intensive interrogation of the accused.

After custodial interrogation, CBI produced four accused of the case, Ehsan Ul Haq, Mohammad Imtiaz, Mohammad Jamaluddin and Aman Singh in the court where the court ordered to send them back to jail in judicial custody.

It is worth noting that after the order of the Central Government, the CBI has registered its FIR RC 224/2024 dated 23 June 2024 under sections 120B, 406, 407, 408 and 409 of the Indian Penal Code on the basis of FIR number 358/2024 lodged in Shastri Nagar police station of Patna in this case and has taken over the investigation of the case.

The NEET 2024 exam was conducted simultaneously across the country on 5 May 2024. Examination centers were also set up in various schools of Patna. Meanwhile, Amar Kumar, the police station in-charge of Shastri Nagar in Patna, lodged an FIR on the basis of a self-written statement under sections 407, 408, 409 and 120B of the Indian Penal Code as Shastri Nagar Police Station Case No. 358/2024 on the charge of leaking of the question paper of the said examination.

Later the case was handed over to the Economic Offences Unit. In this case, Patna Police has arrested a total of 18 people and sent them to jail.

Later, Patna police arrested five people from a farm house in Deoghar district, including Chintu alias Baldev, Mukesh, Panku, Paramjeet and Rajiv. After taking over the investigation, CBI arrested Ashutosh, Mukesh,. Ehsan Ul Haq, Mohammad Imtiaz, Mohammad Jamaluddin, Aman Singh and Sunny Kumar and Ranjit Kumar in this case.

After Rocky’s arrest, the number of people arrested and taken into judicial custody in this case has now become 27.
