CBI intensifies probe into Vijay Hansda Case: Second visit in six days creates tension in Sahibganj

Sahibganj: In a development raising eyebrows, a three-member team from the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) accompanied by a senior lawyer (public prosecutor) made their second visit to Sahibganj within six days on Wednesday. The focus of their investigation revolves around Vijay Hansda, a key witness in the Rs 1000 crore illegal mining and money laundering case, who recently testified before the Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The CBI team arrived at the Additional District Judge (ADJ) Court in the court complex around 10:15 am, where they conducted searches and gathered information pertaining to the Vijay Hansda case. The team spent approximately 35 minutes at the court before returning to Parliament at 10:50 am. This marks the third visit by the CBI to Sahibganj in 97 days concerning the Vijay Hansda case, underscoring the gravity of the matter.

The repeated presence of the CBI has created an atmosphere of apprehension among the stone business community in the city. The investigation stems from the final report submitted by the police in the rental case registered at the ST-SC police station against Vijay Hansda, the head of Lemon Pahad, related to illegal mining.

In the previous visit, the CBI team scrutinized the charge sheet filed in connection with Vijay Hansda’s case. It is speculated that their return is linked to further examination of the same charge sheet. Vijay Hansda, during the police investigation, had asserted that his signature on the paper was obtained without his knowledge, denying any involvement in illegal mining.

The Sahibganj Superintendent of Police, entangled in ED-related questions, is expected to undergo further questioning today. The ongoing developments reflect the intensity and complexity of the probe, leaving the community on edge as the CBI delves deeper into the Vijay Hansda case.
