Jamshedpur: Two motorcycle-borne persons looted cash worth RS 1.6 lakh from one Parvez Alam near Mohammedan Line, Sakchi, in broad daylight on Saturday.
The victim, a resident of Munshi Mohulla, Mango, has lodged an FIR against unidentified persons in this connection. He told police two youths approached him near Mohammedan Line and snatched his bag from him.
Police said they had begun an investigation into the incident. The victim was accompanied by his wife when the incident took place. He had withdrawn the cash from the Golmuri branch of Canara Bank in the morning. He was on his way with his wife towards Mango via Sakchi when the incident took place, police said.
Cops suspect the hand of local criminals in the incident. They are searching for lead with the help of statements of the people residing near the crime scene.
They said they were trying to find eyewitnesses of the incident to get details of appearance of the looters.
