Jamshedpur : The Bistupur police have lodged a cheating and forgery case against singer Honey Singh on the orders of the court of first class judicial magistrate A K Dubey following court complaint of a city based charitable organization, Walk Along Youths (WAY) on December 13.
WAY, has filed a case against the singer, his manager, Anup Kumar and Sourav Chowdhary, director of Mumbai based Outcry Entertainment that handles Honeys events, under section 420 (cheating) and 406 (forgery) of IPC.
Ways counsel informed that when their organization rescheduled the Honey Singh performance on a postponed date owing to security reasons, the event firm managing his shows demanded Rs 75 Lakh in addition to Rs 5.75 Lakh as service tax without performing the show.
When my counsel sought refund of the earlier paid money (Rs 31 Lakh) the event management firm refused outright, said Sandip Sahu, lawyer of the charitable organization, WAY.
According to the counsel, the live show was initially scheduled for October 18 last but could not take place as prior permission of the SDO was not sought subsequently, the next date for the show was October 31 but that show too could not be held as district administration refused to give the permission on security ground due to bomb blasts at Narendra Modis rally in Patna on October 27.
When the new date (November 7) was fixed for the show the event management firm demanded additional money from my client, said Sahu adding that initially Rs. 31 Lakh was paid to the event management firm for the October 18 show.
Sahu also alleged that the singer demanded Rs 11 Lakh through a Kolkata based hawala channel.
When approached, the Bistupur police station in-charge, Awad Kumr Yadav said they are lodging the case against Honey Singh and the event management firm on the court order.
