Abhay Singh alleges political conspiracy by Minister Banna Gupta in Durga Puja brawl
Jamshedpur, Oct 14: Senior Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Abhay Singh held a press conference on Monday to address the recent brawl at the Kashidih Durga Puja. He accused state minister Banna Gupta of orchestrating a political conspiracy aimed at undermining his family’s popularity as the elections approach.

Singh alleged that Gupta was responsible for an attack on golgappa seller and Pintu Das, claiming that the minister is fearful of losing influence and has fabricated false charges against his relatives, including his brothers and nephews. He raised critical questions regarding the medical treatment of the injured, asking why Dharmendra was admitted to a private hospital instead of a government facility and why neither the golgappa seller nor Pintu Das were taken to Tata Main Hospital for treatment. Singh characterized the entire incident as a ‘drama’ orchestrated by Gupta and demanded that the district administration form a medical board to investigate the injuries sustained by Dharmendra.
Further, Singh accused the administration of succumbing to Gupta’s pressure, referencing a previous incident related to the Ram Navami flag. He expressed concern that the administration’s actions were intended to frame him in a false case, jeopardizing his public image. He called for an examination of video footage from the incident, stating he would willingly accept jail time if evidence showed him or his supporters wielding weapons.
Concluding his statements, Singh affirmed that any unlawful behaviour during Durga Puja would be met with strong opposition. The press conference was attended by various BJP leaders, including party district president Sudhanshu Ojha, state general secretary Haldar Narayan Shah, and Minority Front district president Sardar Manjit Singh, among others.
