Jamshedpur, June 20: Prashaant Ranganathan, a class 12 student of Carmel Junior College might have an asteroid named after him after he won accolades at the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) 2017 in the environmental engineering category.

Prashaant had won the ISEF environmental engineering category for his project titled ’Biodegradation of Chlorpyrifos using native bacteria’.

According to information, MIT Lincoln Laboratory has partnered with Society for Science & the Public, a United States-based not for profit organisation to promote science education through the Ceres Connection programme. This programme names minor planets (asteroids) in honour of students in fifth through twelfth class and their teachers. The selection is done through the Discovery Channel.
