Jamshedpur: Zila Parishad chairperson Bulurani Singh inaugurated a cleanliness campaign against vector-borne diseases in Govindpur here on Tuesday. The drive started off at Baba Tilka Manjhi Chowk near Govindpur railway level crossing in the evening.
On the first day of the cleanliness drive, the health department officials sprinkled bleaching powder from Subhashnagar under South Govindpur panchayat area to Khakhripara. Fogging was also done at several places.
Addressing a gathering of local residents, the Zila Parishad chairperson said the campaign would cover each and every locality. She assured to extend every possible help to the health department officials in making the campaign successful. She said it was important to create awareness among the people on the various vector-borne diseases keeping in mind the ongoing rainy season.
Among those present on the occasion included Lallan Shah, Ganesh Gope, Mrityunjay Mahato, Raju Gope, Fani Gope, Uday Pratap Singh, Anand Singh, Kaushal, Mithun Kumar and Manoj.
