Campaign to end on Nov 9, outside political workers to leave Ghatshila

Jamshedpur: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has issued strict directives ahead of the Ghatshila Assembly by-election, 2025, mandating the immediate departure of all political workers, leaders, and campaigners brought from outside the constituency once the official campaign period ends. The move aims to ensure a free, fair, and impartial voting environment in the 45-Ghatshila (ST) Assembly Constituency.

As per the Election Commission’s guidelines, no campaigning will be permitted within the constituency after the campaign period officially concludes. The presence of political functionaries or party workers from outside the area beyond this period will be treated as a violation of election norms and may disturb the level playing field.

According to the district administration, all candidates, office bearers, and political parties have been directed to ensure that their campaigners or supporters who are not registered voters of the 45-Ghatshila (ST) constituency vacate the area by 5:00 PM on November 9, 2025, marking the end of the campaign period.

District Election Officer  Karn Satyarthi emphasized that these measures are essential to maintain neutrality and prevent any undue influence on voters during the 48-hour “silence period” before polling day. He warned that any political person or worker found within the constituency after the stipulated deadline — or engaging in any form of campaign activity — will face legal action under the relevant provisions of the Representation of the People Act and other applicable laws.

The Election Office has also instructed enforcement teams and law enforcement agencies to remain vigilant and conduct intensive checks at entry and exit points of the constituency to ensure full compliance with the directive.

The order reinforces the Commission’s commitment to safeguarding the sanctity of the electoral process and ensuring that voters can exercise their franchise in an atmosphere of peace, fairness, and complete independence from external political pressure.
